My Vision

Josephine County has a strong fire service, and I am committed to ensuring that does not change. Our residents deserve the same high level of fire protection and emergency medical services they rely on today—without the burden of a new tax base.

I believe we can achieve this by implementing a Franchise Service Model, similar to our current trash service. This approach allows home owners to contract with an established fire service provider to deliver professional emergency response and fire protection. By leveraging an existing service, we can maintain and even improve our current level of fire protection without immediately placing a new tax burden on property owners.

This model offers several benefits:
– Cost Efficiency: We avoid the high startup costs of creating a new department from scratch, including purchasing equipment, hiring staff, and building infrastructure.
– Immediate Readiness: Instead of waiting years to develop a new fire department, we can ensure seamless, uninterrupted service from day one.
– Sustainability: As the district grows, we can evaluate long-term needs and adjust accordingly without prematurely raising taxes.

I believe this is the most responsible way to launch our fire district while protecting residents and their financial well-being.
