“Over the last several months, I’ve had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time with Mark Jones through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and conversations about Josephine County, including the needs of Cave Junction and the Illinois Valley.
What has impressed me about Mark is his attention to detail, his knowledge of the job he’s running for, and his willingness to think for himself. Maintaining your own identity and judgment matters, especially in public office. You have to be willing to ask questions, form your own opinions, and stand by them, even when it would be easier to go with the flow. Mark is showing me that he has the ability to do that.
He also continues to show up. That means a lot to me. You can’t understand the needs of a community if you’re not willing to be involved in it, listen, and take the time to understand what people are dealing with.
As an Independent, I care about the person, their character, and their willingness to put our communities first. We don’t have to agree on everything. I value being able to have a conversation, hear a different perspective, and know that the person across from me is thinking for themselves.
Our relationship with Josephine County is incredibly important, especially for Cave Junction and the Illinois Valley. We need open communication, mutual respect, and people who can work together while maintaining their own judgment.
For these reasons, I’m officially endorsing Mark Jones for Josephine County Commissioner, Position 2.
Mark, I appreciate the time you’ve taken to meet with me, the conversations we’ve had, and your willingness to continue showing up. I look forward to continuing those conversations and working together for the people of Josephine County.
